my top 10 quotes on self-love
Self-love: the lifelong adventure you never knew you signed up for
If you read my previous post “my top 10 quotes on life”, you know that I have a serious obsession with quotes (rivaled perhaps only by my shoe obsession). Whenever I come across a gem of a quote, I grab it and stash it away like a squirrel hoarding acorns.
And with Valentine’s week upon us, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my favorite quotes on self-love.
Full disclosure: a lot of these have been snagged from interviews, podcasts, or the endless corners of the internet, so I can't always give the exact citations. But hey, this isn’t a high school English paper, and I'm not sweating the MLA format ;)
Caroline’s Top 10 Quotes On Self-Love
“The more you are able to love yourself, the more you will have to question your choices. Why, if you love yourself, would you subject yourself to unpleasant, unfulfilling situations?” -Barbara Marciniak
“Don’t walk away to teach people a lesson; walk away when you’ve learned yours.”
“I think it’s important to walk with compassion and love. Sometimes it’s easy to internalize that compassion and love are just reserved for other people, but they aren’t. You are your longest best friend; make sure you have compassion and love for you.”
“When you start to realize that you are your own source of power and love, that is when your energy shifts inwards. Instead of your energy grasping outwards, looking for confirmation and validation, your awareness remains centered within you. And suddenly you have energy, you feel empowered by something deeper within you, you feel in control even in the midst of chaos. You are your own source of power; own it.”
“The greatest self love is training your mind to be stronger than your feelings and your boundaries to be stronger than your empathy.”
“Respect is just a minimum.” -Lauryn Hill
“Normalize being your own lover first. Speaking love into your skin cells. Slow bathing your body with reverence. Handling your hair gently with care. Consciously saying kind things about yourself. Mindfully cultivating a beautiful expansive mind and thoughtful heart. Own your need for good rest and exercise. Take care to regulate your nervous system… It's never too late to start normalizing new ways of interacting with yourself, your actual cells. Start today. Begin where you are.” -India Ame’ye
“If you spend your time chasing butterflies, they’ll fly away. But if you spend your time making a beautiful garden, the butterflies will come to you. When you focus on improving yourself, everything you want will come to you. We attract based on who we are, not what we want.”
“True empowerment is staying in the vibration of joy and inviting others to join you there, not lowering your vibration to meet them.” -Maryam Hasnaa
“One of the most loving commitments you can make for yourself is replacing the endless pattern of worry with the acceptance of all that you can be doing in its place.” -Gabi Kovalenko
I love these quotes because they remind me that self-love isn't just about bubble baths and cozy blankets (although those are important too!). It’s about learning to care for yourself mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—setting boundaries, practicing self-compassion, and honoring your inner power.
Self-love isn’t a destination; it’s a daily practice— a lifelong journey that requires patience, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to your own growth. So pack snacks, it’s going to be a long ride ;)
I invite you to take a moment and reflect: which of these quotes resonates most with you? Let me know in the comments!
walk boldly,
